Guides・ Wedding Bathroom Trailer Rental Cost
How to decide on how large of a restroom trailer you actually need, based on your guest count and other factors
So you’re booking a luxury restroom trailer for your wedding, and you’re wondering how large of a trailer you need! A question you likely never had to think about before, but one that you want to get right. Here’s the reality: the actual formula for how many stalls you need doesn’t exist because it depends on a bunch of variables like your guest count, how long the reception is, how much people are drinking, and whether your venue’s built-in restrooms are usable.
But we are here to give you a solid starting point, and you can always call (845-402-0334) or request a quote today to speak with us about it!
For smaller, intimate weddings, a 2-stall or 3-stall luxury trailer does the job. You’re looking at a 20–30 minute event window, most guests hit the bathroom before cocktail hour, and the stalls turn over fast enough. The 3-stall gives you a cushion and means less awkward waits.
The reality: At a 75-person wedding, you probably don’t need more than 2 stalls. At 100+ guests, go with 3 just to be safe.
This is the sweet spot for a lot of Hudson Valley weddings. A 4-stall trailer or 6-stall (or two 2-stall trailers, or a 4-stall and a 2-stall, if you want to have restrooms available in more than one location) handles the peak bathroom rush without overkill. Think of it this way: if 25% of your guests use the bathroom every 15 minutes, 4 stalls keep the line moving.
A 6-stall also gives you breathing room. Someone’s in there for 5 minutes fixing their makeup? No problem. There’s still 3 other stalls open.
Pro tip: If you’re between guest counts—say 150 people—a 4-stall trailer is usually enough.
Now you’re in the larger wedding territory where restrooms are a genuine logistical thing. 200+ guests, a multi-hour reception, dancing, drinking, mingling—people are hitting the bathroom more frequently and for longer.
An 8-stall trailer can handle 250+ guests comfortably. Two trailers (e.g., two 4-stall units) is also an option if you’ve got the space and want to spread people out—some couples prefer this because guests don’t feel funneled into one spot.
Your venue’s existing bathrooms
This is huge. If your venue has working indoor restrooms that guests can actually use, a luxury trailer becomes nice-to-have rather than need-to-have. Some couples add a trailer just for the experience—a super clean, styled space that might actually be nicer than the venue’s facilities, and prevents people from being funneled all into the same spot.
But if your venue’s bathrooms are porta-potties, 30 minutes away, or locked because of renovations? Trailer is non-negotiable, and you probably want to go one size up from what the guest count alone would suggest.
How long is the reception?
A 4-hour reception at 150 guests? 4 stalls is fine. A 7-hour wedding with dancing and a late-night afterparty? Your guests are gonna use the bathroom more. Add a stall or two.
The gender math
Women tend to use the bathroom more than men. We said it. Some venues try to add extra stalls just for this reason. In our luxury trailers, we typically do a 50/50 split, but if your guest list is skewed female, you might want to ask about adjusting the configuration.
Is it outdoors or are people drinking?
Outdoor summer wedding with a full bar? People use the bathroom more. Colder outdoor wedding with less drinking? Different story.
Underestimating: The most common thing? Couples go smaller to save money and then regret it. Bathroom lines are the worst — we don’t think it’s worth it to cut stalls.
The 1-stall situation: If someone suggests a 1-stall trailer for anything over 50 guests, politely decline. That will lead to long lines and unhappy Aunt Susans.
Forgetting kids: If you’ve got a lot of children at the wedding, maybe add a stall. Kids take longer and need more supervision.
Underestimating summer: Heat makes people drink more water, which means more bathroom visits. If it’s July and hot, don’t go minimal.
But honestly? When couples call, we usually ask:
If you want to talk through your specific situation—whether a 3-stall or 4-stall makes sense, if a luxury trailer fits your venue, or whether a combo of indoor + trailer makes more sense—give us a call, request a quote, or check our pricing guide.
We’ll be honest about what you actually need, and would love to help you on your big day.
